Design for Learning is an Innovation Idea that was submitted in 2014 to the Minnetonka Public Schools, "Hunt for Big Ideas." The goal of the project was framed around the idea of giving students a voice in solving problems in our schools and creating new styles of classrooms. What if....students could design, research, collaborate, and create a 21st century classroom; one that is built and designed by students and pushed the boundaries of what we consider a “classroom” today? Over the past 3 years, Design for Learning has gained momentum, as teachers in the district engage in rich discussions, with students, around our current and future learning spaces.
Our talented team is made up of 10 Minnetonka Educators, the Idea Champion/Project Leader, Associate Superintendent, Executive Director of Finance, Executive Director of Technology, Director of Teacher Development, High School Principal, Coordinator of Purchasing, Executive Director of the Minnetonka Public Schools Foundation, and the Executive Director of Buildings and Grounds. This is our Design for Learning Advisory Board, whose mission is to empower Minnetonka students, staff, and community to transform teaching and learning through the design of the learning environment, and provide a framework in which to do so.

VISION: To engage staff in a deeper, more holistic approach to the learner experience using Human Centered Design.
